I started Hairdressing in a busy salon in Ilford, Essex; open 7 days a week and it was fully booked every day. This taught me that, as a hairdresser, you have to be very accommodating and versatile, able to throw yourself at any style that walks through the door. I quickly graduated to a Central London salon when I was 22 years old to expand my skills and became a member of the Redken Platform Artists. I was chosen to travel around Europe teaching for Redken, worked on London fashion week, QVC and Ideal World shopping channels as well as helping to produce S/S and A/W collections of new trends for cuts and colour work.
I then worked as a freelance stylist in East London and expanded on my bridal work. I’m lucky enough to say that bridal work has always managed to find me. Word of mouth has been how I’ve acquired most, if not all, of my wedding bookings and I generally work between 15-20 weddings each year.
I was educated in Racoon hair extensions in 2001 and became an educator for them in 2009. Racoon has been around for over 20 years. What I like most about the brand is that it’s a premium quality choice of hair extensions. The hair is the highest quality, ethnically sourced and if it’s looked after it can be re-used. A lot of my clients might have them just in the sides or to the same length as their own hair to thicken it up. You can add length, thickness, colour flashes, or correct an incorrect hair cut!
With the Hair in Recovery system I can help anyone who is suffering or has suffered from medical hair loss. We now know that 1 in 3 people suffer with severe hair loss due to medical issues whether it be alopecia, chemotherapy, trichotillomania, female pattern baldness, or thyroid problems. I can help thicken the appearance and help re-build self confidence. As we all know our hair is such an important part of our appearance and personality. It’s a very rewarding part of my job which I love to do.
